Hello, my name is Tyson Mauldin. I am the owner and operator of Leading Edge Aviation. I live and breathe aviation and strive to provide the best services at an affordable price.

I have been in the aviation industry since 2009 when I started learning to fly. Since then, I have accumulated over 1,700 hours of flight experience in many different aircraft all across the country. I served 6 years in the United States Air Force as a KC-10 aircraft maintenance crew chief. During that time I earned my Airframe & Powerplant certificate. I have been a mechanic for more than 14 years and I also have my Inspection Authorization. Since becoming a mechanic, I have worked for multiple FAA Repair Stations and held positions such as inspector and production supervisor. I love being a pilot and an aircraft maintenance technician!

My aviation career would not be what it is today without the love and support of my family.

Kristy - executive assistant

Hi, I’m Kristy, and this is Agis. I serve as the Executive Assistant at Leading Edge Aviation, and Agis is our resident “security dog.” When he’s not asking the mechanics to throw his ball, he’s on the clock, keeping an eye on the aircraft and our facility.

My interest in aviation began about 17 years ago when my oldest son started his flying journey and earned his private pilot’s license before he even had his learner’s permit. As a single mom, I was determined to support his passion rather than let fear get in the way, and that season really deepened my faith and trust in God.

I’m a proud mom of two amazing young men. Shortly after they finished high school, both joined the United States Air Force and “flew the nest” within two months of each other.

I’ve worked in sales and customer service for 22 years and love being out and about with customers and vendors. When the opportunity came to join Leading Edge Aviation, I was excited—but the real blessing is that the business is owned by my oldest son. My youngest son was working here when I started and is now pursuing his A&P certificate, having completed his first year.

I’m incredibly proud of both my boys and grateful to be part of the family and team at Leading Edge Aviation.

Becca - Records Compliance Specialist

**Please welcome Becca to the team!**

Becca will lead the launch of our newest department, Records and Compliance. She’ll help ensure AD compliance records are ready when aircraft arrive for annual inspections, prepare logbook entries, and identify applicable Chapter 5 time-compliance inspections and manufacturer-recommended service bulletins.

With detailed, well-organized records and a focus on compliance, Becca will help make aircraft safer, support safe flight operations, and protect aircraft value. Her work will bring greater peace of mind to our customers and take Leading Edge’s already exceptional service to the next level.

We’re excited to welcome Becca and look forward to the difference she’ll make!

scott - DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE

My name is Scott Lewallen and my passion for aviation began with my grandfather. From a very young age, he would tell me stories about aircraft he'd worked on and take me to museums to volunteer. This built in me a lifelong passion that has never stopped. After high school, I earned my A&P license and later my IA. I have worked in aviation for over 20 years. I worked in general aviation until 2008 when I joined the Marine Corps as a CH-53 Helicopter Mechanic. After leaving the Marine Corps in 2018, I worked in corporate aviation where I became Citation 560 XLS+ certified. I later moved back into general aviation then into experimental aircraft. I even had the pleasure of becoming the lead maintainer for a Warbird museum. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate enough to learn how to maintain a wide spectrum of aircraft from general aviation experimental, jets, warbirds and even the heavy WWII bombers.

Josh - SENIOR A&P IA

After highschool, my fascination with planes, engines, and general mechanics inspired me to enlist in the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Propulsion Technician, where I spent 20 years maintaining the E-3 AWACS. During that time I was stationed at Tinker AFB in OKC and Kadena AB in Japan, as well as many deployments and TDY's across the world. Upon retiring from the Air Force, I was hired at a local part 145 repair station in OKC. During my tenure, I worked as an A&P mechanic and was quickly promoted to team lead after 3 short months. As a team lead, it was my responsibility to ensure projects on multi-million dollar business jets were completed in a timely manner while also ensuring my mechanics were performing by the book maintenance and doing so in a safe manner. I joined the team with Leading Edge Aviation on January 1, 2024 where I have had the distinct pleasure of working on General Aviation aircraft. I have earned my Inspection Authorization and I am enjoying utilizing my new certification and knowledge to guide our mechanics throughout their daily operations to continue providing top notch service for the General Aviation community in the OKC metro and surrounding areas!
